Tank the pit bull was stolen from his backyard nearly a year ago. Michelle Miller’s son, Josh Calderon, was sad and mad that day – and every day since. Hope was all but lost when the unthinkable happened – they saw the now wounded dog on the news.

Tank was featured on KSAT in San Antonio, Texas. The video showed Tank recovering from a gunshot wound in the chest – one he miraculously survived from.

Michelle immediately jumped up from the couch when she saw Tank on TV.

“My son was really, really attached to Tank. So to hear what he went through and to see him like that it was very emotional,” she said.

“When I first saw him on TV, I started crying,” said Josh.

“Their dad passed away about a year and a half ago and he bought Tank and another dog before his accident, so getting Tank back…losing him to begin with – was horrible,” said Michelle.

Michelle had to prove Tank was her dog and that she had nothing to do what happened to him before they were able to get him back. She had to send in pictures of Tank as a puppy and an adult, too. But it was all worth it to get him back.

To say their reunion was bittersweet is an understatement.

Now that Tank is home, Michelle said she has anxiety about someone stealing Tank again and is keeping him as indoor dog now. She’s increasing security around her home as well.

Although Tank’s wounds are getting better, he still has a long road to recovery ahead. They have to make sure he isn’t too energetic, but other than that and his medicine, Tank is well on his way to being a normal dog again.

“Whenever he walked in, it’s like he remembered this place. All the stuffed animals – that’s his favorite thing. Probably his favorite time is dinner time. When we eat, he gets food from everybody’s plate. He’s very spoiled,” Michelle said.

But one of Tanks’ favorite things to do is sleep on Josh’s bed. And even though Josh falls off the bed sometimes, he never makes him move.

Tank’s story has a happy ending – but not all dogs who are stolen or go missing get that same ending. To make sure this never happens to your dog, get them the Nuzzle collar.
